  17. <p>    It may not be possible to be a little bit pregnant, but
  18. citizens of San Francisco can now get a little bit married.
  19. Last week the city's board of supervisors voted unanimously to
  20. adopt a law that officially recognizes the unions of live-in
  21. lovers, whether homosexual or heterosexual. Mayor Art Agnos has
  22. pledged to sign the bill, which permits couples who have agreed
  23. to share basic living expenses to register their "domestic
  24. partnerships" at the county clerk's office in a manner similar
  25. to filing a marriage license.
  26. </p>
  27. <p>    Though it has no immediate benefits, supporters see the law
  28. as a possible first step toward fuller legal recognition of
  29. such relationships. The supervisors also urged the city to
  30. consider extending health benefits to the live-in lovers of its
  31. employees.
